At Property Panther, the safety and security of your personal information is important to us. This is our Privacy Policy, which sets out what personal information we may need to collect about you, why we need it, how we use it and the safeguards in place to protect it.
You have complete control over the information stored about you and what types of information, if any, you'd like to receive. Sometimes we may ask you to verify your identity to us before we show you your personal information or discuss things with you - after all, we do need to prevent unauthorised access.
Except as provided for in this Privacy Policy, we don’t supply your Personal Information to any other person or organisation unless you have expressly authorised us to do so.

Information That We Collect About You
Basically, there are two kinds of information that we collect about you. Firstly, we’ll collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us if you register with us as a Buyer or Seller. Secondly, we may also collect other information of a technical nature, which is explained below.
Personal Information If you are just ‘casually browsing’ our website, you don’t need to provide us with any personal information at all. However, if you wish to use some of our advanced website features, you’ll need to tell us a little more about yourself so we can personalise your Panther experience.
When you register with Property Panther as a potential property Buyer, we’ll ask you for your name, county, email address and how you found us. You’ll also need to choose a password.
If you wish to advertise your property privately with us as a Seller, we’ll ask you for your name, address, telephone number, email address and your choice of password. You’ll also naturally need to provide us with details of the property that you wish to advertise. Please do not submit your personal data to us if you don’t wish us to collect it
Other Information When you use our website, it will involve your computer ‘talking’ electronically to ours so it can give you the information that you need. This all goes on silently in the background, as it does when you use virtually every website on the internet. Here are some of the things that they chatter about when you use Property Panther:
Cookies A ‘cookie’ is a small piece of text information from Property Panther that is stored on your computer by your web browser. Cookies don’t contain any information that can personally identify you, but they do allow you to log in to the Property Panther website and also keep track of your preferences.
We use two flavours of cookie, called ‘session’ cookies and ‘persistent’ cookies. Session cookies are temporary files that are only active whilst you are using our website, and these are deleted when you close your internet browser. Persistent cookies remain in the cookie file of your browser for longer, and allow you to be remembered when you next visit our website.
Most web browsers (such as Internet Explorer, Netscape or Firefox) accept cookies automatically. If you would rather that they didn’t, you have the ability to accept or decline cookies by altering the settings in your web browser to prevent automatic acceptance of cookies. If the use of cookies troubles you, you can find more information here, where you'll also find an explanation of how you can remove them. Please note that if you decline or disable the use of cookies, you may not be able to use the interactive facilities of our website.
IP Addresses As part of our security procedures, we keep a record of the IP addresses of people using our website. An IP address is means of tracking users of our website. We do this to help protect both our website and our users against fraud, illegal activity or unauthorised website use. For example, if an unauthorised person illegally attempts to access a private property Seller’s account, we have information which could be passed to law enforcement personnel to enable them to be traced.
Rest assured that we only maintain a record of IP addresses for safety and security purposes. They are not used for any other purposes (e.g. marketing), and will only be released to approved law enforcement personnel in exceptional circumstances when carrying out criminal investigations.
Log Files Our Property Panther servers record industry standard information solely for the purposes of technical analysis. Information contained within our log files is intended for internal use only and is not connected to any personally identifiable information.
Why Do We Need This Information?
We need some information from you so that you can use some of the advanced features of our website. For example, if you register with us as a Buyer and want us to automatically send you details of newly added properties that match what you are looking for, we’ll need to know your email address so we can send them to you.
Equally, if you register as a Seller, you’ll want us to let you know as soon as someone makes an enquiry about your property.
Information Protection and Security
With the internet, no transmission of data can ever be guaranteed to be 100% secure and therefore we cannot guarantee the absolute and total security of your personal information. However, rest assured that we will always use our reasonable endeavours to protect the security of your personal information from unauthorised access or use.
We use a variety of technologies on our website to protect your personal information. Some of these are obvious, such as the use of usernames and passwords to access restricted areas of our website. We also employ a variety of other systems and safeguards.
In addition to our data security and protection systems, your personal information is also protected in the UK by the Data Protection Act 1998. Under this Act, information that he hold about you must be processed lawfully and fairly, as well as being accurate, relevant and not excessive. The information should, where necessary, be kept up to date and not retained for longer than is necessary. It would be a great help to us if you could ensure that you keep your personal information accurate and current by updating your registration details on the website if any of your information changes. If you are a private property Seller, we also rely on you to keep your property information up to date.
You should be made aware that sometimes, countries outside the European Union may have a lower standard of protection for personal information than that required by the Data Protection Act 1998. If it is necessary to transfer your data to an organisation or company outside the EU for any reason, we’ll do everything reasonable to ensure that your personal data is processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, as implementing the EU Directive on the Protection of Personal Data (95/46/EC), and any other Act or Acts replacing or modifying such Act for the time being in force, through the implementation of an agreement ensuring adequate protection of your personal data.
If Property Panther is ordered by a court of competent jurisdiction to provide any of your personal information collected by us as described in this Privacy Policy, you consent to Property Panther providing such personal information to that court in accordance with the court's instructions.
External Websites
Areas of our website contain external links to other websites. You should be aware that we do not have any control over the content of external websites, and take no responsibility for information, products or services provided by them. Should you wish to follow an external link, you should note that other websites may have different privacy and security policies to ours. Please note that Property Panther shall have no liability to you in respect of any breach of security by a third party.
Communications from Us
From time to time, we may send our registered website users email communications containing information about our website and our services. Occasionally, we may also let our users know about special discounts, products or services provided by other ‘partner’ organisations. When users register with Property Panther, they are given the choice as to whether they wish to receive these communications or not. Registered users are always free to ‘opt out’ of communications from us and/or partner organisations at any time should they so wish, by simply logging in to the Property Panther website and changing their preferences.
Online Credit and Debit Card Processing
Our online credit and debit card processing is handled for us by Worldpay who are part of the Royal Bank of Scotland group and the second largest internet payment-system provider.
Once you have placed an order with Property Panther, you will be directed to Worldpay's secure site to complete the payment. Worldpay's Secure Server Software encrypts your credit card information before it is sent to ensure your transaction is private and protected. For your peace of mind, you will see the web page change from http to https to show that it is a secure page and a small yellow padlock will appear in the bottom right corner to confirm this.
Your sensitive credit card details are handled directly by Worldpay - Property Panther does not receive your card number or details (other than an automated confirmation of any order placed)
Monitoring Emails and Messages
The safety and security of our website users is paramount to us. Our website allows potential property Buyers to contact property Sellers using our online messaging facility. Occasionally, third parties may attempt to use this facility to try to send commercial or unauthorised messages to our users. Whilst we have various security measures in place to help prevent abuse of this facility, we may also monitor and keep records of both email communications and other messages sent via our website for security purposes. Should you receive an abusive or commercial message via our messaging facility, please advise us at abuse@propertypanther.com. We’ll then investigate it and take appropriate action.
User Surveys and Polls
We may from time to time hold online surveys and polls of our website users, which may relate to use of the Property Panther website or be of a general nature (for example asking website users their thoughts on the UK housing market) Participation in these surveys and polls is entirely voluntary for all users, and is completely anonymous unless otherwise stated. The results of our surveys and polls are aggregated, and may be used in our marketing, media and press releases.
Changes to Our Privacy Policy
From time to time, we may need to revise or change the terms contained within our Privacy Policy. If we need to do this, we will post the new Privacy Policy on our Web Site and it will become effective from the time of posting. We advise you to review our Privacy Policy on a regular basis to make sure you are aware of the latest version, and understand what we do with your information.
Want To Know What We Know About You?
If you would like to know what information we hold about you, you can at any time request a copy of all the personal information that we hold about you. You must do this in writing to us, and we’ll let you have the information within 40 days. There may be a small administrative charge for this.
Feedback
If you have any thoughts about our website, we would love to hear from you. We are always striving to improve our services, and welcome constructive comments as well as praise! We’ll use this feedback to help improve the Property Panther website, and may contact you if we need more information to sort out a problem that you are experiencing. We may also use positive feedback such as success stories for marketing purposes, but we won’t include any information that could identify you personally without your prior written or email permission.
